This is a placeholder blanket for my favorite afghan that I never plan on parting with because it is so special to me. I moved across the country from Michigan to Oregon when I was twenty years old, leaving my entire family behind. My sister-in-law sent me an afghan that she made herself and I was blown away at what a sweet gift it was. I moved around a lot at that time in my life, and the blanket was always a comforting presence on my bed in every new apartment I moved into.

I got a very sweet kitten around the same time as I received the afghan and she LOVED it instantly. The texture is knobby and reminded her of nursing with her mom. Our frequent moves were a little stressful for her and this blanket was very comforting for her.

I still use my favorite afghan everyday. It lives folded, up on my boyfriend and I’s couch — our favorite place in our home. It is a symbol of how loving my family is and I hope to still be wrapping up in it for the rest of my life.
