Friends, In memoriam

This sweater has become a blanket. My dear friend Melissa Hochschild was an avid knitter. On any trip to Portland, we would have to spend it hours in a yarn shop – I brought a book to read. Mel and I worked together for 6 years and became great friends. She tragically passed away in March of 2014. This sweater was a coveted piece of art that she created. After she died, her sister gave it to me knowing it was my favorite Melissa sweater. Alas, it turned out to be a better blanket to be cozy. I know Melissa would have made a blanket for this project – and here it is. I miss her! She has an amazing son, Henry – I hope he visits the artwork.
