Blanket Stories: Talking Stick, Works Progress, Steward

A site-specific installation commissioned by Curator Faith Brower and the High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon

This is a “stand in” for my crib quilt, made by my mother. It is very fragile. Most of the appliqué is missing: little girls, trees, houses and animals. Embroidered: Muriel Joan Kilgo, September 29, 1936. In 1958, 1964, and 1961, my three children laid on the quilt, wiggled arms and legs and learned to turn over. The quilt is 80 years old.
